What you can do |
Roundtables provide a forum in which MOM and community members
can talk about specific topics relating to youth and toys/media.
Facilitated discussion will allow participants to explore issues
surrounding the influence toys & media have on our children and
our culture. These Roundtables will take place at various locations
and be lead by co-facilitators. Collaborations with other peace-
friendly and youth-serving organizations may provide attendees
and possible facilitators. These events serve to create a
supportive network for community members who are committed to
peace in our homes and neighborhoods, as well as to provide
information for MOM as to the needs of our community with regard
to reducing harmful influences for youth.

2nd Annual "A Season of Peace Campaign" :
September 18, 2000 - December 31, 2000
Tuesday, September 19, 2000 Kick off event
This campaign will again focus on encouraging people to think about the messages youth receive from toys and media. During the months of September through December, MOM maintains a presence at community events and venues, enabling us to initiate dialogue with parents, youth, and youth-serving adults about the impact that toys and media have on young people. Through these community outreach efforts, MOM collects pledges of commitment to peaceful choices. In making a pledge, adults promise to carefully consider the gifts they purchase for the young people in their lives, while young people agree to make nonviolent toy requests and purchases during this gift-giving season.
