The Mothers Peace Movement (MOM) asks that you join us in A Season of Peace this holiday season.

Make a pledge to stop and think about the impact and meaning of the toys you buy the children in your life. All toys, games, video games, computer games, movie viewing, television viewing, musical selections and Internet activity impact the young people of our society.

Manufacturers and commercials try to influence you to buy their product because it means profit for them. But what do the toys and the play they inspire mean and what impact will they have on our children, our community, our society and the world?

We are NOT TELLING YOU WHAT TO PURCHASE. We ask that you take a moment to consider your purchases and if they truly support your beliefs and values about a peaceful world.

Remember... Peace is a Choice

Please read the following pledge. If you are in agreement, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page which will email us your information (name, address, etc.) so that you may be counted in our goal to sign 1,000 pledges. Feel free to print off the pledge and sign it as a reminder to yourself of your pledge to help make a more peaceful world for future generations.


I realize that I am responsible for the messages sent to a child through a toy or game I have provided for them. I further realize that the act of my giving the item to a young person implies that I encourage and condone the message sent. I believe that a conscious choice I can make right now is to engage in thoughtful and peaceful gift giving.

With regard to all the young people on my holiday shopping list this is my pledge:

  • I will think about the potential message my gift will send.
  • I will be attentive to the activities of my children/the young people around me.
  • I will be informed and familiar with the activities and ideas involved in the toys and media that my children/the children around me play or view.
