What you can do |
Peace is a choice. With access to accurate information and
supportive encouragement, people can be empowered to make good
decisions.
Change does not happen overnight, but a decision to change can
happen instantly. As the decision to change grows stronger and
evolves into a firm commitment, change is inevitable and contagious.
A positive perspective is more powerful than a negative one.
The Mothers Peace Movement is for peace and informed,
thoughtful decision-making, not against war toys, etc.
We prefer to empower people to make their own decisions, rather than tell
them what to choose for their children.
We will not fight violence with violence and aggression. We
must choose our language carefully, and serve as a role model for
others in our words and deeds. All of us must seek to find inner
peace so that the interactions and responses we manifest are peaceful.
The change that comes about from influencing attitudes is more
gradual and longer lasting than those changes that simply call for
modified behavior. As attitudes change, behavioral change will follow
naturally. On the other hand, influential forces that demand
immediate change in behavior can breed new, more rebellious behaviors
down the road. MOM has the faith and patience to work for the
long term solution. We are also supportive of behavior change
initiatives, as long as the campaign to bring about change takes
a positive perspective.
